Whether you are traveling cross-country or simply going about your daily commute, it’s always a good idea to have a few makeup products on hand. You never know when you might need to touch-up your makeup while out and about. Preparation is key and it is unfailingly better to be safe than sorry.
Now that we are approaching summer, I thought it’d be the perfect time to talk about updating the ordinary makeup products we keep handy in our purses. Your skin will react differently to the heat and sun exposure in the summer than it would in the spring or fall. Staying in tune with your body and the way it responds to the changes in the weather will help you to maintain the utmost of self-care. Here are a few makeup products to ensure you tote around with you this summer:
Tinted Moisturizer with SPF
We know how important sun screen is during the summer, but we are told to apply sun screen every 2-3 hours. How are you supposed to apply sunscreen with your makeup on? Tinted moisturizer with SPF my friend.
Blotting papers are great for shine control. If your matte finish subtly turns into a gloss finish during the summer months, this pack will become your best friend.
Lip Balm with Sunscreen
Give your lips some sun protection and keep them looking plump with a lip balm that has SPF in it. The concentration of SPF is perfect for keeping the lips looking soft and supple.
I love using a good volumizing waterproof mascara during the summer for no-makeup makeup looks or even days when I don’t feel like wearing makeup at all. It is the only kind of mascara that should stand the test of melting off in the outdoor heat.
There are several reasons keeping a bronzer handy is a good idea, but two of the most important are that:
- Bronzer can manipulate the awkward places on your skin that didn’t get tanned, to give you the appearance of a full-blown even tan.
- Bronzer makes you look sun-kissed, even if you haven’t had the opportunity to hang out in the sun…which I guess you could say goes hand in hand with point #1..
Natural Lip Shade Lip Gloss
A little lip gloss to highlight your natural lip color goes a long way, especially when you’re not wearing any other makeup.
