3 Ways to Transform Your Wardrobe for Spring

3 Ways to Transform Your Wardrobe for Spring

Okay so it may not feel like it for everyone, but we all know it’s coming ( even though it already feels like it’s arrived for those of us in the South…). If we are talking about calendar official days, the first day of Spring is only a few days away. I haven’t been able to shop for any spring clothes yet but that’s okay! That’s what brought me to this post actually.

It seems that so far I am encouraged to be more innovative this year which has me looking for more avenues in which to be creative. I think the more you challenge yourself by exercising restraint, the more creative you get. If you want to be creative with the clothes you have, there are small ways to transform them into spring ready attire. Shall we dive in? Two Ways to Wear Pink Shoes in the Fall

Two Ways to Wear Pink Shoes in the Fall

I am in love with the sprinkles of pink I’ve seen in fall fashion lately! I am not obsessed with the color, but I do like to play around with it from time to time. When it comes to casual shoes, I rarely experiment with colors that aren’t neutral however, I have been feeling the need to liberate myself from that box this fall with these adorable pink shoes from Shoetopia!

Pumpkin Patching in the Heat- Wearing Denim

Pumpkin Patching in the Heat- Wearing Denim

If you live in Texas, you know the heat doesn’t rest for any season. There are days that feel more season appropriate than others, sometimes even weeks, but the general feel is the same: it’s hot. Continue reading “Pumpkin Patching in the Heat- Wearing Denim”

An Easy Way to Find the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses

An Easy Way to Find the Perfect Pair of Sunglasses

There is no way on earth I could justify purchasing a pair of $100 sunglasses straight from the internet without physically checking them out first. I don’t care who the glasses are from or how cute they look in the picture, it is just not going to happen.

Since fall is approaching, I figured it’s the perfect time to search for a chic pair of fall sunglasses and found Warby Parker’s variety to be amazing! Luckily, they offer an at home try-on program which gave me the opportunity to see how the glasses I liked would look and feel on me!

How Does It Work?

DPP_62

All you do is pick out 5 pairs of sunglasses you’re interested in trying. If you’re like me, and have a hard time determining what would look good on your face based strictly off of a picture, you can take their frames quiz to get their recommendations. I did heed a few of their personal picks for me based off of my quiz answers, but I decided to try other pairs that I thought looked pretty cool as well!

After you pick out your five, you put in your credit card info (a precautionary. You’re not charged a single cent!) and your address. Once completed, you’re sent an email saying that the glasses are on their way! You are given 5 days to try them out, post on social media to see what your friends think (and if you use the hashtag #WarbyHomeTryOn, the Warby Parker team can comment and tell you which pair they think looks best on you too), and just get a feel for them. Then, on the 5th day you send them right back for free.

My 5 Picks!

IMG_0338After I ordered my sunglasses, it took exactly a week for them to show up at my doorstep and I was super excited when they did! Here are the shades I decided to try (click on the titles to get the prices!):

Madison in Whiskey Tortoise

IMG_0400The first thing I looked at with every pair of these glasses was the quality. I thought for sure I would get at least one with a loose hinge or scratches on the glasses, after all they were sent to me for free. Other than one whose screw seemed a little too tight, they seemed very durable and all were in perfect condition.

Thatcher in Jet Black Matte

DPP_204These glasses in particular actually made me think that I might have an issue choosing a favorite… Thatcher was one of the ones I chose to just experiment with and I actually really liked it! It doesn’t fit the bill for “fall shades” but I could totally see them being a perfect go-to pair in the winter time!

 Jennings in Beach Glass

DPP_53Jennings, like the rest of the sunglasses, is sold in other colors. One color is “Beach Glass” and the other color is “Whiskey Tortoise” which is the color pattern you see on Madison. I chose “Beach Glass” because the color struck me as a little different and interesting. Sure enough, the color is pretty much my favorite thing about them! Not to mention the fact that they’re perfect for any occasion both casual and formal.

Laurel in Oak Barrel

The lenses for these, like Madison, are dark brown. The frame is similar to Madison’s as well but a little less dramatic around the brow line. They are gorgeous and unique all their own.

Sheridan in Polished Gold

DPP_0009DPP_4Can you tell I had way too much fun trying these out?? Sheridan was actually my favorite pair. I love the 70’s-ish look about them and I found they fit me perfectly! Once the 5 days was up, all I had to do was put them back in the box, slap the return label on it, and drop it off at the post office. Overall, the process was fairly simple, fun, FREE, and ultimately gave me the surety I needed to purchase one that would fit me!

Have you ever owned a pair of Warby Parker sunglasses? If not, which pair pictured here do you like the most?

What I Wore: Coffee Shop Outing

What I Wore: Coffee Shop Outing

IMG_8402 As much as I love coffee, I barely frequent coffee shops. I am well aware of how empty my pockets would be if I visited coffee shops as frequently as I crave coffee, so I have learned to make most of the drinks I love at home. When I do go out for coffee, I look forward to the boost of productivity I typically get from the atmosphere. You’re very likely to find someone typing away on a laptop or reading the newspaper. Something about seeing other people in their own zone of focus encourages me to really hone in on my own.

In this small outing to the coffee shop, I wore warmer, more neutral tones. The embroidered off-shoulder blouse just screams vintage, so I paired it with something that would highlight the blouse by being just as vintage looking in the wedges. I love wearing wedges when I know I might have to do some walking but still want to dress it up just a tad more than I would by wearing a typical sandal. Because of the textures and tones in the embroidery, I just had to pair it with some blue jeans and tie it all together  with my A1 bag: the classic Brown Cross body bag. When will it ever go out of style? I have no idea. But I do know that it serves me in way too many ways through out my everyday life for me to give it up.

5 Items You Need In Your Summer Wardrobe

5 Items You Need In Your Summer Wardrobe

*this post contains affiliate links

The official first day of summer is fast approaching for some and for others (like those in Texas) it feels as if it’s already here. I feel pretty behind as far as my shopping endeavors go since my closet is completely VOID of key summer pieces.

Typically when I go shopping for summer clothing, I’m scrounging through thrift shop isles or the clothing racks at the mall. This year I’m doing something different, embracing the millennial trend of doing shopping online. Truthfully, with the online shops I’ve found, I don’t think any of the stores I have around me can compare in price or available styles. With that being said, within this post, in the titles of each of the items listed are links to the coolest online shops I know you can find these items at! A lot are on sale for super great prices, so I had to share them with you guys!

The following items are absolute must have pieces in a summer ready wardrobe!

5 Items

  1.  Cover-Up’s

These are perfect for trips to the pool and beach. Not only are they easy to slip on and off but they’re sold in so many cute styles. The crochet scalloped one in particular catches my eye because of the scalloped edges. It’s design is a mixture of vintage and tropical, which I love. Not to mention the fact that white always exaggerates tans. So yeah, I’m planning on grabbing one of these pretty soon.

2.                                     Maxi Dress’s

Maxi dresses can be considered a little formal at times, but in my opinion it’s all about how they’re worn. Since they can be dressed up or dressed down with a simple change of hairstyle or shoes, Maxi dresses can be suitable for various summer occasions. If you search for them online, you’re bound to find several styles (and even colors of the same style) you love.

3.                                         Rompers

If you don’t try on a romper at least once during the summer, are you even doing summer right? Rompers can be kind of hard to shop for since there are many different body types and only a small variety that cater to each. Once you find one that has that perfect fit though, it’s an investment worth making!

4.                                           Sandals

A no brainer. The beauty of summer is that it’s hot enough to the point that whatever skin you can afford to leave uncovered, you are allowed to leave uncovered. This includes your feet. Summer is sort of an unspoken no-socks season.

5.                                          Summer Hat’s

Straw hats are such a classy touch to a summer outfit. They look amazing paired with a maxi dresses, rompers, and shorts or capris and a nice blouse. Pretty much any summer outfit you can imagine putting together, these hats are the cherry on top to.  I couldn’t complete this list without them!

What do you consider a staple summer wardrobe item for you?

Bright and Springy

Bright and Springy

IMG_7646IMG_7648IMG_7670IMG_7682IMG_7698IMG_7715    April showers bring May flowers!

When it comes to spring fashion, anything bright, floral, flowy, or all three is acceptable.

Rarely have I seen someone wear all black in the spring successfully (although I am tempted to take on that challenge…) because spring is the PERFECT time for bright colors!

That’s my favorite thing about spring fashion.

I am guilty of looking to pair articles of clothing together so they either match or have a good contrast but that can be difficult to do with shirts that have busy colorful patterns. Pairing a flowy shirt that has a colorful pattern (such as the one pictured above) with lighter color jeans is a great way to dress it up without making it look too busy!

During the spring time you can also take the same main color and just sprinkle different tones of it throughout the outfit in accessories. These shoes I tried on with this outfit just for the humor of it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked the way it brought everything together.
